It turns out that people in who were skeptical about the Olympics being hosted here, no longer have to worry. The Olympic committee decided that the 2016 games should be held in Rio in Brazil. Needless to say, I'm disappointed that my home city won't be holding the Olympic Games. Maybe our time will come in the future.
Although I would have loved the games to be hosted in the windy city, I am happy that it was Rio who we lost out to. The Olympic Games have never been held anywhere in South America before and I think it will do a lot for the country’s economy. Hosting the games is a great honor and one which I feel Brazil and indeed South America in general, deserves to be a part of.
I found this article on the Olympic Games in Rio. I think it was written by a native Brazilian. It clearly means a lot to them and I’m sure it will be a huge success. Maybe we will have our chance in Chicago in the future….
